The Inquisitors

ever since learning that in the Visconti Deck* the Queen is the counterpart to the king and the Page is not the counterpart to the knight, but to the Damsel and Mounted Lady respectively, I have been attracted to the idea of a Court (or Committee) of 6 Officials divided into 3 pairs rather than 4 Officials divided into 2 pairs, or one pair and two singlets as the case may be.

While previously the Ambassador was the egalitarianized Page (with Commissar, Tribune, and Philosopher rounding out the positions of Knight, Queen, and King) I now and have for some time seen the Ambassador as a counterpart to the Commissar, alike in dignity, mounted on paired beasts, associated with speed, travel, representation, discipleship, locality and globality.

For some weeks however I have been at a loss for either of the Offices of the Page/Damsel. I considered Oracle, Disciple, Acolyte, and Organizer but none seemed right, too inferior or superior or general otherwise not matching.

However, I think I've just come up with an office which feels sufficiently egalitarian and of a type with the other Offices, namely: the Inquisitor, or Questor.

like the Page and their associated concepts of Apprenticeship, Scholarship, etc there is the idea of gathering information, in this case not only personally but also on behalf of the Court/Committee.

As it is, I'm still not satisfied with any 6th Office, whether it correspond also with the Page or to one or the other Offices if I rearrange the Ambassador back to ‘rank’ of Page and perhaps also move the Tribune to correspond with the Knight.

For now though, I'm eager to see the following cards begin to appear in my readings:

I'm also once again trying to decide on the make up of the suits. having pretty confidentially synthesized the Scrolls and Threads into the Suit of Bolts, I'm now trying to decide whether to retain the Suit of Horns and whether to return the Suit of Shields.
